December 1, 2022, 67, Goldsboro –

George William “Billy” Stevens, 67, passed away suddenly on Thursday, December 1, 2022, from injuries sustained in an automobile accident. Billy was born in Wayne County to the late William Dawson Stevens and Christine Southerland Stevens on March 6, 1955. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his late wife, Ann Martin Stevens, and brothers, Dennis Stevens and Tommy Stevens.

Billy was a driven and determined man. He was self-employed in construction for many years and made his own way. Billy was also dedicated to his community. As an employee of the Goldsboro Fire Department, he served as a Firefighter. As much as he enjoyed his work, nothing was more important than his family. His daughter was the apple of his eye and he found even greater joy in being a Papa. Being a Papa with JoAnne as GiGi was one of the greatest joys in life.

Upon retirement, Billy found just the right spot at White Lake. He had dreamed of living by the water and this dream came true. Beach music, living by the water, great friends, and spending time with his beloved fiancée, JoAnne Jackson, made for the perfect retirement. To top it off, he had the pleasure of watching his Miami Dolphins play while enjoying the view. Life was good for this happy loving couple.

Billy will be dearly missed by his daughter, son-in-law, grandchildren, and especially by his loving JoAnne.  He is now reunited with his beloved wife and brothers. What a joyful time it must be!

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, December 6, 2022, from 6:00 – 7:00 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home followed by a service to celebrate Billy’s life at 7:00 p.m. in the chapel with Rev. Andy Stovall officiating. The family will receive friends at other times at the home of Shane and Lesli Lozier at 303 Wesley Drive Goldsboro, NC 27534. A private interment for the family will be held on Wednesday in Willow Dale Cemetery.

Billy is survived by his daughter, Lesli Stevens Lozier, and husband, Shane; grandchildren, Payzlei, Laken, Everett, Bennett, and Garrett; and his beloved fiancée, JoAnne H. Jackson.
