November 29, 2022, 87, Mount Olive –

Mary Elizabeth Kelly, known to family and close friends as Flip Kelly, passed away Tuesday morning, Nov. 29, 2022, at Wayne Hospital. This Mount Olive resident was 87 years old.

Miss Kelly was preceded in death by her parents, Willliam Fernie Kelly and Ethel Turner Kelly; and a sister, Helen Lois Kelly Smith.

She is survived by a brother and sister-in-law, William and Linda Kelly, of Mount Olive; nieces, nephews, and spouses, Terri and Bob Nelson, Cindy and Dale Carroll, David and Lisa Maxwell, Arthur and Elizabeth Maxwell, and Janet Maxwell; and their families.

Miss Kelly, a Duplin County native, had lived for many years on the Carolina coast where she was employed in several restaurants. Upon her retirement, she came back “home” to Mount Olive. She was a member of Mount Olive Presbyterian Church.

Graveside funeral services will be Friday, December 2, at 11 a.m. in Maplewood Cemetery in Mount Olive. Officiating will be the Rev. Franklin Lane. A brief time of visitation will follow the service. Flowers are welcome, or memorial contributions may be given to
