Rose Ina Capps McLamb

Rose Ina Capps McLamb

October 24, 2022, 90, Goldsboro –

Rose Ina Capps McLamb, 90, passed away on Monday, October 24, 2022, at Kitty Askins Hospice Center, surrounded by her family. Born in Wayne County on December 19, 1931, she was the daughter of the late Linnie and Etta Letchworth Capps. Rose brought love and joy to her family simply by her presence.

Rose was hardworking and dedicated. This could be seen in the dedication she had to her job. She spent many years working at Barry’s of Goldsboro, until her retirement. It could be seen in her church, Spring Hill Original Free Will Baptist Church. There she found a community of believers who experienced many good times together, the Joy Timers. In her community, she showed this through her time volunteering to care for cancer patients. It was simply who she was and how she lived. No fanfare was needed, it was just Rose loving others.

Her hard work and dedication were most evident in her love for her family. God was always first in her life and family followed right behind. Rose and Jasper raised their two children in the ways of the Lord. They filled their home with love and joy with all they had. One of the ways Rose filled her home was through the smell of her delicious meals. All were welcome around her table and she made sure no one left hungry. It was just one more way she could show just how much she cared.

Rose’s joy just grew with the birth of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Their laughter filled her home but overwhelmed her heart. She left a mark of love on them and also on those she encountered throughout her life. Her presence is already missed.

In addition to her parents, Rose was preceded in death by her husband, Jasper McLamb, and brothers, Willie Capps, Guy Capps, and Walter Capps.

Rose is survived by her daughter, Debbie Pennell, and husband, Tommy; son, Tony McLamb and wife, Joyce; grandchildren and spouses, Tracy and David Bowling, Melissa and Earl McCullen, Matthew and Sara McLamb, and Angie and Craig Kelly; great-grandchildren, Hayden Amodeo (Destiny), Reid Amodeo, Mackenzie Amodeo, Brandon McCullen, Luke Kelly, Avery McLamb, and Clara Jane McLamb; great-great-grandchildren, Daisy Amodeo and Honey Amodeo; sister, Edna Earle Cook; and several nieces and nephews she loved very much.

A service to celebrate Rose’s life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 27, 2022, in the chapel of Seymour Funeral Home with Pastor Al Warrick officiating. Interment will follow in Wayne Memorial Park. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, October 26, 2022, from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home.
