Shooting Under Investigation

On June 16, at approximately 2:10 p.m., officers with the Goldsboro Police Department responded to a report of a shooting in the 1200 block of N. George Street.

A 47-year-old woman was shot in the arm and had already been transported to the hospital by a friend when officers arrived. The woman’s wound was not life threatening. She was treated at Wayne UNC Healthcare and discharged soon after.

Preliminary investigation revealed that there was an exchange of gunfire between the occupant of a vehicle traveling on George Street and a pedestrian. The injured woman, who lives in the area, was not involved in the altercation. She reported that she was sitting on the front porch of her home when she was hit by an errant bullet.

This investigation is continuing.
