Mabel Jean Bradshaw Sutton

May 2, 2022, 90, Goldsboro –

Mabel Jean Bradshaw Sutton, age 90, passed away peacefully at the home of her daughter.

Born in Sampson County, she was the daughter of the late Sterling Cecil and Mae Belle Carter Bradshaw and the wife of the late Nelas Van Sutton for 64 years. A graduate of East Carolina University with a Master’s Degree in Education, she was a member of the Delta Kappa Gama Teachers Sorority and was a dedicated teacher in the Sampson County School System for over 30 years. She was also an active member of Browning United Methodist Church, where she served as pianist, and choir member and was a Sunday School teacher for the Young Adult Class as well as a member of United Methodist Women.

A Funeral Service will be held Wednesday, May 4, 2022, 3:00 p.m. at Browning United Methodist Church with Rev. Arthur Warren officiating. A private burial will be held at the Clinton City Cemetery.  A time of visitation for family and friends will be held on Wednesday at the church from 2:00 p.m. to 2:45 p.m.

Mrs. Sutton is survived by her daughter, Sederis Rhodes; her granddaughter, Macie Brown; longtime caregiver, Carlena Hunt

Along with her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her brother, Cecil Clark Bradshaw.
