April 6, 2022, 95, Mount Olive –

Mrs. Doris Jernigan Fulghum Ellis, at the age of 95, passed away peacefully Wednesday, April 6, 2022 while being loved and cared for at the home of her daughter.

Mrs. Ellis, a resident of the Mount Olive area, whose life work was that of being a nurse. She had served at both Wayne Memorial Hospital and Cherry Hospital, retiring from Wayne. She was a long-time member of the Northeast Original Free Will Baptist Church.

Married to George Edward Fulghum, who would be the father of her children, and later to Edward Morton Ellis, both of whom preceded her in death. Also preceding her in death were a daughter, Verlyn F. Baker; a son, David Edward Fulghum; grandsons, George Fulghum and Aric Baker; a granddaughter, Pamela Baker; parents, David Henry Jernigan and Lucy Ella Whitfield Jernigan; and siblings, Marvin Jernigan, Margaret J. Wall, Helen J. Garner, Shirley J. Deal, and Jimmie Jernigan.

Survivors include a daughter, Judith Fulghum Fuller of Fremont; a daughter-in-law, Donna W. Fulghum of Mount Olive; grandchildren, Calvin Scott Fuller, Jr. and Jennifer Peele, Edward Morton Fuller and Summer Weaver, Jody Fulghum, Henry Fulghum and Amy Fulghum, Stephanie Baker, and Lynn Fulghum, widow of grandson, George Fulghum; great-grandchildren, Chancie, Charley, Baby Cal, Noah, Adam, Eli, Ella, Sam, Caj, Georgia Lynn, David Allen, Lily, Cameron, Katherine, and Thomas; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be Sunday, April 10, at 2 p.m. at Tyndall Funeral Home. Officiating will be the Rev. Patrick Muston. Burial to follow the service in Wayne Memorial Park.
