David Wayne “Moon” Brock, 78, passed away on Tuesday, January 4 at Wayne UNC Health Care.

He is survived by his wife, Betty Anderson Brock of the home; his daughter Gail Merritt and husband Randy of Mount Olive; four sons, Pastor Jeff Dail and his wife Lisa of Calypso, Brent Dail of Elizabethtown, Kent Dail of Fla., and Tommy Dail of Tabor City; his five grandchildren, Caden & Lucas Dail, Shelley Montano, Drake Merritt, T.J. Dail, Paisley Dail, and Marty Montano. David is also survived by a sister; Sarah Southerland and her husband Kent of Mount Olive; brothers, Bennie Brock and Georgia of Faison, Cecil Brock & Patti of Calypso, and Rommie Brock of Goldsboro.

David was a simple man that loved fishing, golfing, anything outdoors, and his family. He was one of thirteen children and was a member of Mount Olive First Pentecostal Holiness Church.

A Graveside Service will be held on Friday, January 7, at eleven o’clock in the morning at Wayne Memorial Park. Kent Grantham will lead the service. The family will greet friends immediately following and at other times at the home of Ms. Betty in Calypso.

In Lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Wounded Warrior Project.
