Drought Conditions Remain As Rain Moves Through N.C.

(GDN) — Some much-needed rainfall is expected in Eastern Carolina as the region continues to deal with drought conditions. According to the latest map released by the U.S. Drought Monitor, Wayne and Lenoir County remain in an area of the state listed in “Severe Drought.” Most of North Carolina is listed in moderate or severe drought, while the westernmost area of the state is listed as “Abnormally Dry.” Several inches of rain are expected from Sunday into Monday as a storm system crosses the area and sends temperatures plummeting by Monday night.
