December 21, 2021, 87, Goldsboro –

Melba Ellen King Dail, 87, was called home by our Lord and Savior on Tuesday, December 21, 2021.

Born September 17, 1934 in Sampson County, NC to the late Claxton & Ellen King, she was married to the late Cricket (E.H.) Dail.

 She was preceded in death by a grandson, Jamie Layton Arthur, and siblings, Bryant King, Virgil Bordeaux, Dwight King, Danny King, Janice Lockamy, and Peggy Myatt.

Melba was a retired nurse, of which she shared her knowledge, faith, humanity, and compassion to all those she encountered.  A faithful servant to the Lord, she shared her Bible teachings with her children, grandchildren, and others and was a lifelong member of Spring Hill FWB Church.

A true matriarch of her family, Melba taught her girls to live and lead by example and trust in the Lord.  The legacy she left behind will long be remembered. 

She is survived by her daughters, Joyce Barnes (Frank), Lois Arthur (James), Cindy Aycock (Carlton) and Linda Williamson (Jimmie Barb).  Her grandchildren, Dawn Wells, Amanda Arkaev, Jennifer Massey, Sterling Raynor and Daniel Raynor. Nine great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild, and brother, Jim King of Greensboro and many nieces and nephews.

Graveside services will be held Monday, December 27, 2021 at 1:00 PM, at Evergreen Cemetery, Hwy. 70W, Goldsboro, NC.

The family is in the care of Howell Funeral Home & Crematory in Goldsboro.
