Four Arrested During Kinston Drug Investigations

On Wednesday, members of the Kinston Police Department Narcotics Unit concluded two narcotics investigations that spanned the course of nearly three months. This operation was conducted as a part of the department’s initiative to suppress violent crime in the city. Both investigations were concluded with the execution of search warrants by members of the Kinston Police Department SWAT Team.

The first search warrant was executed at a residence on the 400 block of N. Adkin Street for the distribution of crack cocaine. During the warrant service, 40-year-old Michael Hooks of Kinston was arrested without incident. Michael Hooks was charged with:

  • Sell/Deliver Cocaine
  • Distribution of a Controlled Substance within 1,000 feet of a School
  • Conspiracy to Sell/Deliver Cocaine
  • Conspiracy to Distribute a Controlled Substance within 1,000 feet of a School, Possession with the Intent to Sell/Deliver Cocaine
  • Felony Maintaining a Dwelling for the Distribution of Narcotics

Michael Hooks was placed in the Lenoir County Detention Center under a $190,000 bond.

On Thursday, 40-year-old Maurice Hooks of Kinston was arrested for his involvement in the case and charged with:

  • Conspiracy to Sell/Deliver Cocaine
  • Conspiracy to Distribute a Controlled Substance within 1,000 feet of a School

Maurice Hooks was placed in the Lenoir County Detention Center under a $100,000 bond.

The second search warrant was executed at a residence on the 300 block of N. Orion Street and was also for the distribution of crack cocaine. During the warrant service, 53-year-old Thomas Washington and 46-year-old Michael Aytche, both of Kinston, were arrested without incident.

Washington was charged with:

  • 2 counts of Sell/Deliver Cocaine
  • 3 counts of Possession with the Intent to Sell/Deliver Cocaine
  • 3 counts of Felony Maintaining a Dwelling for the Distribution of Narcotics

Washington was placed in the Lenoir County Detention Center under a $250,000 bond.

Aytche was charged with:

  • Sell/Deliver Cocaine
  • Possession with the Intent to Sell/Deliver Cocaine
  • Felony Maintaining a Dwelling for the Distribution of Narcotics.

Aytche was placed in the Lenoir County Detention Center under a $150,000 bond.
