Wayne County’s unemployment rate dropped a couple of points in August. According to Wednesday’s figures from the N.C. Department of Commerce, Wayne County’s seasonally unadjusted jobless rate dropped to 4.7% last month. That’s down from the 4.9% unemployment rate recorded in July. Wayne County’s jobless rate is still much improved from this time last year. In August of 2020, the county’s unemployment rate came in at 6.1% as the nation was still reeling from the coronavirus pandemic.
