Jared Austin Smith passed away on Tuesday, June 15, 2021 at his home. Austin was born in Wayne County to Sue Hurlburt Best and Linwood Worth Smith on January 29, 1988. He was a valued employee of Precision Plumbing in Goldsboro.

Austin enjoyed any and all daddy activities. Autumn was the apple of his eye and 100 percent a daddy’s girl. Austin was fun-loving, generous, and dependable. If you needed anything at all, all you had to do was call him on the phone and he would be right there. He went out of his way to help anyone who needed it.

A great cook, Austin was always ready to bring the family together for a great meal. He will be remembered by many as an avid Yankee’s fan. Austin was quite possible the Yankee’s biggest fan.

The family will receive friends on Friday, June 18, 2021 from 6:00 – 7:00 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home followed by a service to celebrate Austin’s life at 7:00 p.m. in the chapel. The family will also greet friends following the service at the funeral home.

Austin is survived by Heather Nye; daughter, Autumn Smith; mother, Sue H. Best and husband Johnny; father, Linwood Worth Smith; sister, Jamie Best Jones and husband Randy; nephew, Ben Jones; grandmother, Lillie Best and a several aunts, uncles and cousins he loved very much. He was preceded in death by his brother, Matthew Coe Smith; and his grandparents, Jim and Jo Hurlburt, Karl Best, and Ernestine Smith.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given in Austin’s memory to the American Heart Association.
