Raymond Lester Edwards, 82, of Princeton, passed away on Thursday, June 3, 2021 at SECU Hospice House in Smithfield. He was born in Johnston County on November 8, 1938 to the late Albert Lester Edwards and Ethel Kornegay Edwards.

Raymond is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Shirley Jackson Edwards; son, Michael Edwards and wife Joey; daughter, Sandra Howell; brother, Phillip Edwards and wife Faye; sister, Nancy Hardee and husband Billy Gene; and grandchildren, Paige Howell, Carley Edwards, and Dawson Edwards.

Raymond worked for Electricon Inc. for 34 years before they had closed. Shortly after that he opened his own business, Possum Hollow Electric Company. Raymond was very active in his community. He was a faithful member of The Bridge Church, formerly Whitley P.H. Church, in Princeton for 44 years. For 43 years, he was committed to the ministry of Canaanland. For 34 years, he was a member of the East Coast Gospel Music Association. He was also a member of the North Carolina National Grange and North Carolina Christian Motorcyclist Association. In his spare time, he enjoyed riding his tractor, motorcycle, and pier fishing but most importantly spending time with his family and friends. He will surely be missed, but precious memories will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm on Tuesday, June 8, 2021 in the chapel of Casey Funeral Home and Cremations.

The funeral will be held on Tuesday, June 8, 2021 at 7:00 pm in the chapel of Casey Funeral Home and Cremations with the Reverend Andy Stovall and Reverend Ferrell Hardison officiating. The committal service will be held on Wednesday, June 9, 2021 at 11:00 am at Evergreen Memorial Cemetery in Princeton.
