GOLDSBORO, N.C. — The Goldsboro Police Department is urging parents and guardians to remain vigilant following reports of an adult male attempting to approach children as they walk to school.
According to police, the department has received reports of a man driving through areas where juveniles are walking to school and attempting to engage them in conversation, reportedly in an effort to get them into his vehicle.
Authorities are sharing the information to raise awareness and encourage families to discuss important safety precautions with their children.
Police are reminding parents and guardians to speak with their children about staying alert to their surroundings, avoiding conversations with unfamiliar individuals who approach them in a suspicious manner, and never entering a stranger’s vehicle.
Children are also encouraged to immediately report suspicious encounters or behavior to a trusted adult.
The Goldsboro Police Department is asking anyone who may have seen or interacted with the individual to contact Investigator C. Howell at 919-580-4206.
Police are encouraging residents to remain aware of their surroundings and share the warning with other families throughout the community.
