MOUNT OLIVE, N.C. — Motorists in Mount Olive will need to continue using a detour as a temporary road closure on North Chestnut Street has been extended through Tuesday, Aug. 11.
The Town of Mount Olive issued an updated public notice Monday announcing that North Chestnut Street between Westbrook Street and West Park Avenue will remain closed until 5 p.m. Tuesday.
The closure, which originally began at 9 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 5, is necessary while crews complete a sewer line replacement project.
Due to the nature of the work, there will be no public access through the affected section of North Chestnut Street while the closure remains in effect.
Drivers traveling through the area will need to detour through Westbrook Park using Westbrook Street off North Breazeale Avenue.
Motorists are encouraged to allow additional travel time and use caution when traveling along the detour and near the construction area.
