June 29, 2026, 85, Goldsboro – On June 29, 2026, at approximately 7:18 a.m., Wilma Jean Aycock Herring peacefully gained her angel wings and entered her eternal home.
Wilma was preceded in death by her father, William Aycock; her mother, Ruby Aycock; her brother, Alvin Earl Aycock; her beloved husband, Randall Casey and Buddy Herring; her son, William Casey; and her grandson, Brandon Casey.
She is survived by her sisters, Esther Anderson and Sue Carol Aldridge; her son, Ronald Casey and his wife, Patricia Casey; her grandchildren, Christopher Casey and his wife, Natasha Casey, Ryan Casey and his wife, Alesha Casey, Randy Casey, Samantha Stevens, and Tabatha Mozingo; and her extended son, Shelton Sutton.
Wilma was also blessed with many great-grandchildren: Haley Casey, Brenden Casey, Teagan Casey, Kora Casey, Liam Casey, Luke Casey, Noah Casey, Mariah Mozingo, Dylan Mozingo, Ashlynn Stevens, and Patrick Harvey. She was further blessed to become a great-great-grandmother to Donavon Jones Jr.
Wilma dedicated 35 years of service to the Wayne County school lunch program before retiring. She worked alongside her father cropping tobacco, a memory she cherished throughout her life. Wilma had a passion for adventure and enjoyed playing softball, shooting pool, boating, swimming, dancing, racing, and listening to her music loud. She embraced life with a joyful spirit and never turned down an opportunity to make lasting memories.
She is also survived by her dear friend, Dean Casey, and her family, who became like a second family to her. Wilma treasured the many adventures they shared and the love and friendship they gave her throughout the years.
Wilma will be remembered for her adventurous heart, her love for family and friends, and the joy she brought to everyone, fortunate enough to know her. Her memory will live on in the hearts of all who loved her.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, July 2, 2026 from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. at Howell Funeral Home & Crematory in Goldsboro. A private burial will be held at Fairview Cemetery in La Grange.
