June 28, 2026, 84, Goldsboro – Sue B. Floars, 84, peacefully entered the presence of her Lord on Sunday evening, surrounded by the love of her family. Born in Sampson County on January 23, 1942, Sue was the daughter of the late Carl Lee Bagwell and Cecile Cox Bagwell. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 48 years, Jackie Floars; her son, George Gregory Floars; her brother, Bill Bagwell; and her sister, Barbara Trail.
Together with her husband, Sue co-founded Jackie’s Used Cars in 1968, where they built not only a successful business but lasting friendships within their community. She worked faithfully alongside Jackie, exemplifying dedication, integrity, and kindness in every aspect of her life.
Above all else, Sue loved the Lord and faithfully lived out her Christian faith through humble service to others. As a charter member of Faith Free Will Baptist Church, she devoted countless years to serving wherever she was needed. She faithfully taught Sunday School, served on the Hospitality and Ladies Committees, and joyfully lifted her voice in the church choir. Her greatest ministry, however, was often found behind the scenes. With a gracious and generous spirit, Sue opened the doors of her home to pastors, missionaries, evangelists, and Christian workers, preparing meals, offering fellowship, and providing encouragement. She considered it a blessing and privilege to care for those who faithfully labored in the work of the Lord, reflecting Christ’s love through simple acts of hospitality and service.
Sue’s home was the heart of her family. Nothing brought her greater joy than gathering her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren around her table, sharing meals, laughter, and precious conversations. She treasured every moment spent with those she loved and leaves behind a legacy of unwavering faith, selfless service, and unconditional love. She will be remembered as a devoted wife, a loving mother, a cherished grandmother and great-grandmother, and a faithful servant whose quiet acts of kindness touched countless lives.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, July 1, 2026 from 1:00 – 2:00 p.m. at Faith Free Will Baptist Church. A service to celebrate Sue’s life will follow at 2:00 p.m. in the sanctuary with Pastor Christian Powell and Pastor Dann Patrick officiating. Interment will be in Evergreen Memorial Cemetery.
Those left to cherish her memory include her sons, Anthony Floars and wife, Kim, and Johnny Floars and wife, Angie; her grandchildren, Laura Lea Botkins and husband, Zach, Rachel Smith and husband, Jordan, Caleb Floars and wife, Mikayla, Kaitlyn Johnson and husband, Jonathon, Drew Floars and wife, Haylie, Kellie Floars, Dillon Floars and wife, Amy, Randy Floars, Carl Floars and wife, Caroline, and Adrien Floars; her great-grandchildren, Titus, Landry, Olivia, Uriah, Renna, Ramey, Grayson, Serena, Houston, Reuben, Nolan, Eric, and Jacob; and her sisters-in-law, Barbara Bagwell and Norma Floars.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Sue’s nephew, Mike Trail, for the love, care, and support he showed her throughout the years. His kindness and faithfulness were a true blessing, and the family will always be grateful.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Faith Free Will Baptist Church, a place that was so dear to Sue’s heart and where she faithfully served her Lord for many years.
Though Sue’s gentle presence will be deeply missed, her family rejoices in the promise of eternal life through Jesus Christ, knowing she has heard the words, “Well done, good and faithful servant.”
