June 18, 2026, 81, Goldsboro – James Kenneth “Ken” McLamb, 81, of Goldsboro, North Carolina, went to be with his Lord & Savior on June 18, 2026 surrounded by his loving family.
Ken was born in Harnett County on January, 11, 1945 to James William and Bertie McLamb. He served two years in the U.S. Army before beginning a 53 year career in the automotive industry. He spent 28 years at Sears automotive and then moved on to fulfill his dream of being the owner/operator of Ken’s Cars in Goldsboro, NC for 25 years.
A charter member of Stricklands Crossroads Fire Department, Ken was also an active member of Westwood United Methodist Church. He was known for his strong faith, generous spirit, diligent work ethic and unwavering dedication to his family.
In his retirement, Ken stayed active in the car business visiting colleagues and spending countless hours in his shop at home restoring Jeep Scramblers and classic cars. He enjoyed spending time outdoors on his farm in Johnston County whether it was mowing grass, picking up pecans with his loving wife, or making cherished memories hunting with his grandchildren. He loved his grandchildren and always wanted to hear everything about their lives, gladly sharing stories from his own.
Above all, Ken was a family man. His greatest pride and joy came from his children and grandchildren, whom he supported enthusiastically in every endeavor.
Ken is survived by his wife of 60 years, Anne McLamb; and their children, Lisa (Mike) Graham and Angela Gurley; grandchildren, Hannah Graham, Elizabeth (John) White, Will McLamb and Macy McLamb; and sister, Bettie (Johnny) Britt. In addition to his parents, Ken is preceded in death by his sister, Lena Stewart Cook.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to be made to Westwood United Methodist Church memorial fund or Kitty Askins Hospice Center in Goldsboro, NC, whose compassionate care brought comfort and support to Ken and his family.
A celebration of his life will be held Tuesday, June 23, 2026 at 3 p.m. at Westwood United Methodist Church, Highway 70 W in Goldsboro. The family will receive friends following the service.
