WAYNE COUNTY, NC — A report of shots fired in the Mar-Mac community led to the arrest of three individuals on multiple drug and firearm-related charges after a Wayne County Sheriff’s Office investigation uncovered methamphetamine and a stolen firearm.
According to the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to a shots fired call on June 13 in the area of Nancy Drive. Upon arriving, deputies began gathering information about the incident, including a description of a possible suspect vehicle.
A short time later, deputies located the vehicle traveling on C.B. Keen Road and initiated a traffic stop. As the vehicle came to a stop in a driveway, one passenger exited and fled on foot. Deputies pursued the individual and quickly took the suspect into custody. The remaining occupants of the vehicle were detained without incident.
During the investigation, deputies searched the vehicle and the fleeing suspect’s path of travel. Investigators recovered illegal narcotics and a stolen firearm.
Based on information developed during the investigation into the original shots fired call, deputies requested assistance from the Sheriff’s Office on-call detective. Following the investigation, all three suspects were transported to the Wayne County Magistrate’s Office and formally charged.

Jashaun Melvin, 25, homeless, Fayetteville
- Trafficking Methamphetamine
- Possession of a Stolen Firearm
- Resisting a Public Officer

Kenneth Ray Spruill, 36, of Goldsboro
- Conspiracy to Traffic Methamphetamine
- Trafficking Methamphetamine
Bond: No Bond
April Hair, 32, homeless, Dudley
- Possession of Methamphetamine
- Possession of a Controlled Substance on Jail/Prison Premises
- Simple Possession of a Schedule IV Controlled Substance
Bond: No Bond
The Wayne County Sheriff’s Office did not release additional details regarding the original shots fired incident.
