GOLDSBORO, N.C. — A 20-year-old Goldsboro man is facing multiple charges, including attempted first-degree murder, after police say he intentionally rammed a woman’s vehicle during a domestic-related incident Tuesday night.
According to the Goldsboro Police Department, officers responded to the 1200 block of U.S. 70 West at approximately 10:42 p.m. on June 16 in reference to a traffic crash involving injuries.
During the investigation, officers determined the collision was intentional and stemmed from a domestic disturbance.
Police allege that Jareyon Powell, 20, chased a vehicle driven by 20-year-old NyAsia Faison westbound on U.S. 70 before intentionally striking her vehicle. The impact caused Faison to lose control and crash.
Investigators said Powell also lost control of his vehicle during the incident. His vehicle overturned, and he was ejected during the rollover.
Both Powell and Faison were transported to UNC Health Wayne with non-life-threatening injuries. Powell was later transferred by ambulance to ECU Health Medical Center in Greenville for additional treatment.
As a result of the investigation, warrants were obtained charging Powell with:
- First-Degree Attempted Murder
- Driving While Impaired (DWI)
- Driving After Consuming Alcohol While Under 21
- Interfering with Emergency Communications
- Reckless Driving
- Driving While License Revoked for an Impaired Revocation
Police said the warrants will be served upon Powell’s release from medical care.
