GOLDSBORO, N.C. — Two Goldsboro men have been arrested in connection with an attempted armed robbery at a local Dollar General store earlier this month, according to the Goldsboro Police Department.
The incident occurred on June 6 at approximately 11:17 a.m. when officers responded to an attempted robbery call at the Dollar General located at 2107 N. William Street. An employee reported that two men had attempted to rob the store and that one of the suspects was armed with a firearm.
The Goldsboro Police Department’s Investigative Services Bureau launched an investigation and was later able to identify the suspects as 25-year-old Micah Deangelo Cumberlander and 34-year-old Marquez Tashawn Leach, both of Goldsboro.
Investigators secured warrants for both men following the identification.
On June 11, members of the Goldsboro Police Department and North Carolina Probation and Parole arrested Cumberlander without incident in Goldsboro. Later that day, the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office arrested Leach in Mount Olive following a brief foot pursuit.
Cumberlander is charged with:
- Attempted Robbery with a Dangerous Weapon (Felony)
- Conspiracy to Commit Robbery with a Dangerous Weapon (Felony)
- Carrying a Concealed Weapon (Misdemeanor)
He was placed under a $100,000 secured bond.
Leach is charged with:
- Attempted Robbery with a Dangerous Weapon (Felony)
- Conspiracy to Commit Robbery with a Dangerous Weapon (Felony)
Leach was held without bond.
Both suspects are scheduled to make their first court appearance on June 12.
