GOLDSBORO, N.C. — Police are investigating a shooting and assault incident that occurred Friday after gunfire detection alerts were triggered in a Goldsboro neighborhood.
Officers with the Goldsboro Police Department responded to the 100 block of Vanderbilt Circle after receiving two alerts from the city’s ShotSpotter system indicating a total of eight rounds had been fired.
When officers arrived on scene, they located a male victim who had been assaulted. A second victim later arrived at UNC Health Wayne with a non-life-threatening gunshot wound to her backside.
Police identified the victims as Ericka Lewis, a 28-year-old Goldsboro resident, and Deandre Langston, a 35-year-old Goldsboro resident.
Authorities said the investigation remains ongoing as detectives work to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident.
