WAYNE COUNTY, N.C. — The Wayne County Sheriff’s Office has announced additional arrests and dozens of new charges in the ongoing investigation into the theft of bronze vases from gravesites at Wayne Memorial Park.
Between November 2025 and January 2026, approximately 200 bronze vases were reported stolen from graves throughout the cemetery, located on U.S. Highway 117 South in the Mar-Mac community. Detectives say continued investigative efforts have led to the identification of more individuals involved and expanded charges against previously arrested suspects.
Additional Individuals Charged
Darrin Dwayne Davis, 42, of Old Mt. Olive Highway, Dudley, has been charged with:

2 counts of disturbing a casket or grave marker

2 counts of misdemeanor larceny

2 counts of possession of stolen goods
Jerry Thomas Lane, 44, of Beaver Drive, Dudley, has been charged with:

2 counts of disturbing a casket or grave marker

2 counts of misdemeanor larceny

2 counts of possession of stolen goods
Additional Charges Filed Against Previously Arrested Suspects
Lewis Cody Honeycutt, 35, of Goldsboro, has now been charged with an additional:

27 counts of disturbing a casket or grave marker

27 counts of misdemeanor larceny

27 counts of possession of stolen goods
Honeycutt was previously charged with 26 counts each of disturbing a casket or grave marker, misdemeanor larceny, and possession of stolen property, along with two counts of obtaining property by false pretense. His bond was set at $150,000 secured.
Crystal Lynn Yancey, 46, of Goldsboro, has been charged with an additional:

21 counts of disturbing a casket or grave marker

21 counts of misdemeanor larceny

21 counts of possession of stolen goods
Yancey was previously charged with 26 counts each of disturbing a casket or grave marker, misdemeanor larceny, and possession of stolen property, as well as four counts of obtaining property by false pretense. Her bond was also set at $150,000 secured.
Wayne County Sheriff Larry Pierce previously described the crimes as “unconscionable and deeply hurtful” to families in the community.
Officials say the investigation remains ongoing and additional charges are possible. The sheriff’s office is urging anyone who discovers a missing or recently stolen vase from a loved one’s gravesite to contact the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office promptly.
