September 14, 2026,65, – Richard Brian Doverspike, 65, passed away on Monday, September 14, 2026, at UNC Health Rex. Rick was born in Boston, Massachusetts, on August 7, 1961, and was the son of the late Dale Doverspike and Mary Belle Doverspike.
Rick was a simple man who found happiness in the everyday things that made life meaningful. He loved being outdoors and enjoyed working with his hands, especially caring for yards and landscapes. Whether he was planting, mowing, or simply making sure things were well cared for, Rick took pride in his work. He loved the fresh air, the feel of the soil, and the satisfaction that came from seeing something he had worked on look its best.
A talented musician, Rick enjoyed playing the guitar and drums and had a gift for songwriting. Music was another way he expressed himself and shared a part of who he was with those around him. He also enjoyed playing golf and appreciated the simple pleasure of being outside and enjoying a round with friends.
Rick was a man of sincere faith who loved God. His faith was a quiet but meaningful part of his life, reflected in the way he cared about others and appreciated the blessings found in everyday life.
Rick will be remembered for his hardworking spirit, his love of the outdoors, his music, and the friendships he made throughout his life. He did not need much to be happy. He simply enjoyed the things he loved and the people who crossed his path along the way.
Rick is survived by his sister, Ann Williams; his brother, Robert Doverspike; and many friends who loved him and will miss him dearly.
In memory of Rick, those wishing to honor his life are encouraged to make a donation to the Goldsboro Lions Club, in care of Tony Camaioni, or to adopt a pet from a local animal shelter. Rick would also be honored by a simple act of kindness—offering a helping hand to someone who may be less fortunate.
Friends are welcome to gather at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, October 6, 2026, for a time of remembrance at the family plot in Willow Dale Cemetery, Goldsboro, NC.
May Rick be remembered in the simple things he loved—the sound of music, a freshly cut yard, a day spent outdoors, a round of golf, and the quiet peace that comes from knowing he lived life in his own sincere and uncomplicated way.
