September 28, 2026, 58, – Pamela Adams Matthews, 58, passed away peacefully on Monday, September 28, 2026, at UNC Wayne Healthcare in Goldsboro, surrounded by the love of her family. Pam was born in Wayne County on December 7, 1967, to the late Robert Wayne Adams and Helen Belle Pate Sullivan. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Nina Adams.
Pam was a hardworking woman who took great pride in doing her job well. She worked in the vending business for more than 20 years and was currently employed with Canteen Vending Company in Garner. Her strong work ethic was a reflection of the determination and dependability she carried into every part of her life.
While Pam worked hard, she also knew how to enjoy life. She loved being outdoors and was happiest when she could spend time in her yard surrounded by flowers and plants. There was something special about getting her hands in the dirt and watching things grow. If she wasn’t working in her yard, you could often find her at the beach, especially on the pier with a fishing rod in hand. For Pam, just being outside was enough to make a good day even better.
Pam also loved to cook, but what she enjoyed most was watching the people she loved enjoy the food she prepared. Cooking was one of the ways she showed her love, and gathering family and friends around her table brought her great happiness. Family was, without question, the most important part of Pam’s life. She treasured every opportunity to be together, whether sharing a meal, watching a favorite television show, or simply enjoying one another’s company.
She had a fun side, too. Pam enjoyed shopping and loved finding a good bargain. She was especially proud of her Cadillac, affectionately named “Ruby.” These simple pleasures, along with the people she loved, made her life rich and meaningful.
Pam attended The First Church in Goldsboro. Her faith and the love of her family were steady parts of her life, and she will be remembered for her generous heart, strong work ethic, love of the outdoors, and the joy she found in taking care of the people and things she loved.
Pam leaves behind a beautiful legacy of love and family. She is survived by her husband, Elwood “Woody” Matthews; her children, Scott Allen Moody, Amber Brooke Foss (Brandon), Cody Blake Adams (Taryn), and Noah Andrew Matthews; her grandchildren, Lila Foss, Cainen Adams, Cambree Adams, Chesney Adams, and Caleb Dudley; her sister, Tracy Adams; her brothers, Johnny Adams and Timmy Adams; and her best friend, Regina Ezzell. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, October 4, 2026, from 12:30 until 2:00 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home, followed by a service to celebrate Pam’s life at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel with Rev. Bill Rose officiating. Interment will follow in Providence Church Cemetery.
In honor of Pam, her family kindly asks that everyone attending her service wear her favorite color—purple.
Flowers are welcome, or memorials may be made in Pam’s memory to the charity of one’s choice.
