GOLDSBORO, N.C. — Wayne County families will have an opportunity to make sure their children are riding safely during a Child Passenger Safety Seat Check scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 26, in Goldsboro.
The event will be held from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Team Goldsboro Collision Center, 3300 Highway 70 Bypass East.
The local event comes during Child Passenger Safety Week, Sept. 21–27, a statewide campaign focused on reducing the misuse of child safety seats through education and enforcement.
The North Carolina Governor’s Highway Safety Program is partnering with the Eastern Carolina Injury Prevention Program, Safe Kids Pitt County Coalition, North Carolina Office of State Fire Marshal, SafeKidsNC, Greenville Police Department and local and state law enforcement agencies to kick off the week.
Throughout Child Passenger Safety Week, certified technicians will provide opportunities for parents and caregivers to have car seats inspected, receive installation guidance and learn more about properly securing children in vehicles. Law enforcement agencies across North Carolina will also conduct child passenger safety checkpoints during the week.
Goldsboro Event Focuses on Keeping Kids Safe
Locally, the Sept. 26 event at Team Goldsboro Collision Center in partnership with SafeKids Wayne County will give parents and caregivers an opportunity to have their child safety seats checked and receive information about proper installation and use.
The Goldsboro event will also feature a car seat giveaway, along with a seatbelt convincer designed to demonstrate the importance of wearing a seat belt. Snow cones will also be available.
The event is being presented by Team Goldsboro Collision Center and Safe Kids Wayne County as part of efforts to promote child passenger and vehicle safety in the community.
Appointments for the Goldsboro event can be scheduled in advance using the QR code included on the event flyer.
