September 11, 2026, 79, – Loomis Gordon Crocker, 79, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Friday, September 11, 2026, at Kitty Askins Hospice Center. His life was a beautiful testimony of faith, service, and love for others, and he leaves behind a legacy that will continue through the many lives he touched.
Gordon was born in Pine Level, North Carolina, on March 31, 1947, to the late Loomis Alec Crocker and Dorothy S. Crocker. He graduated from Pine Level High School and went on to earn both his Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Education from East Carolina University.
Gordon dedicated 39 years of his life to education, teaching at Pine Level, Rosewood, and Spring Creek schools. He was also a coach for baseball, girl’s basketball, junior high football, golf, and soccer, winning multiple conference and tournament championships through the years. More than teaching lessons in a classroom or on an athletic field, Gordon invested in the lives of young people. Through his guidance, encouragement, and example, he influenced and inspired countless students and athletes who will remember him for years to come.
His love for the Lord was central to his life. Gordon was a faithful member of Spring Hill Original Free Will Baptist Church for 50 years, where he served as a deacon, Sunday school teacher, choir member, and member of the Laymen’s League. His commitment to the church reflected a heart devoted to serving God and His people.
For more than 30 years, Gordon was also a dedicated member and former president of the Goldsboro South Camp of Gideons International. He shared God’s Word in more than 200 churches and participated in numerous Bible distributions. His desire to place Scripture into the hands of others was an important part of his Christian witness, and his service helped extend the message of God’s love to many.
Gordon was an avid East Carolina University fan and enjoyed sports, history, and gospel music. He was also talented in woodworking, building, and repair, skills he gladly used to help with numerous home, personal, and church construction projects. Whether working with his hands, cheering on the Pirates, or serving his church, Gordon found joy in making a difference.
Above all, Gordon was a loving and faithful husband, daddy, and Papa. His family was his greatest earthly treasure, and his love, wisdom, and steady presence will be deeply missed. While his family grieves his absence, they find comfort in the promise of Scripture and the assurance that Gordon is now in the presence of his Lord.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, September 15, 2026 from 6:00 – 7:00 p.m. at Spring Hill O.F.W.B. Church followed by a service to celebrate Gordon’s life at 7:00 p.m. in the sanctuary with Pastor Al Warrick and son, Rev. Michael Crocker officiating. Interment will be Wednesday, September 16, 2026 at 11:00 a.m. in the Crocker Cemetery in Pine Level.
Gordon is survived by his wife of 55 years, Judy Quinn Crocker; his sons, John Crocker and wife, LeAnn, of Dudley, Chris Crocker and wife, Amy, of Clayton, and Michael Crocker and wife, Lisa, of Wilson; his grandchildren, Aaron, Sam, Brandon and wife, Madi, Holly, Abby, and Alexa; his sister, Brenda Crocker, of Pine Level; his brothers, Steve Crocker, of Kenly, and Tim Crocker and wife, Renee, of Pine Level; and his special grand dogs, Toby and Rona.
Flowers are welcome, or memorials may be given in Gordon’s memory to Spring Hill O.F.W.B. Church or Gideons International Goldsboro South Camp.
