MOUNT OLIVE, N.C. — Motorists traveling through Mount Olive should prepare for multiple road closures and traffic delays as town crews conduct water line work and other activities Wednesday and Thursday.
The Town of Mount Olive announced that Main Street between Center Street and Church Street is closed to all traffic beginning Wednesday, Sept. 16. The closure is expected to remain in place through 5 p.m. Friday, Sept. 18.
According to the town, the closure is necessary to allow crews to replace a water line.
Emergency Closure on NW Center Street
The town also issued an update Wednesday announcing an emergency temporary road closure on NW Center Street from Westbrook Street to Park Avenue.
That closure began immediately on Wednesday, Sept. 16. Motorists should avoid the affected area and use alternate routes while the emergency closure remains in effect.
Breazeale Avenue Traffic Delay and Detour Thursday
An additional temporary traffic delay and detour is scheduled for Thursday, Sept. 17, from 8 a.m. until 10 a.m.
The affected area includes Breazeale Avenue from Southerland Street to Chestnut Street.
Drivers traveling through Mount Olive are encouraged to allow additional travel time, watch for workers and traffic-control devices, and use alternate routes where necessary.
