GOLDSBORO, N.C. — Three people were displaced Tuesday after an overloaded electrical circuit sparked a fire at a Goldsboro home, according to the Goldsboro Fire Department.
Firefighters were dispatched to a structure fire at 302 S. Alabama St. at 10:42 a.m. Tuesday, August 11. Crews arrived four minutes later and found fire showing from the one-story residence.
Twenty Goldsboro Fire Department personnel responded to the scene. Firefighters launched an aggressive interior attack and brought the fire under control by 10:59 a.m.
Crews remained at the residence until 12:24 p.m. checking for additional fire extension, conducting salvage operations and investigating the cause of the blaze.
Fire officials determined the fire was caused by an overloaded electrical circuit inside the residence and ruled the incident accidental.
Three people were displaced from the home and are receiving assistance from the Wayne County Chapter of the American Red Cross. No injuries were reported.
Wayne County EMS also responded to the scene to assist with the incident and monitor firefighters. Duke Energy Progress was called to disconnect and secure electrical service to the residence.
