MOUNT OLIVE, N.C. — The Town of Mount Olive will hold a public hearing on Monday, August 3, to review the completion of its 2020 Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) Neighborhood Revitalization Project and the grant closeout process.
The hearing will provide residents with an overview of how the town utilized $950,000 in federal Community Development Block Grant funding, which covered 100% of the project’s costs.
According to the town, the grant funded housing improvements that benefited low-to-moderate-income residents, as well as planning services to develop a downtown Streetscape Design Plan aimed at enhancing the community’s future growth and appearance.
Project expenditures included $658,119.65 for housing rehabilitation activities, which involved replacing homes with modular housing, and $207,000 for planning efforts associated with the downtown streetscape design.
The public hearing is a required step in the federal grant closeout process and gives community members the opportunity to review the project’s accomplishments and provide comments before the grant is officially closed.
Town officials encourage residents to attend the August 3 hearing to learn more about the completed improvements and the impact of the federal investment on the Mount Olive community.
