May 22, 2026, 78, Goldsboro – Donald Martin Mozingo, age 78, passed away Friday, May 22, 2026, at his home. Born in Wayne County, he was the son of the late Roy Martin Mozingo and Gaynelle Lane Mozingo.
Mr. Mozingo dedicated many years of his life to road construction industry, working with Barrus Construction. A hardworking man with a generous heart, he was always willing to lend a helping hand to neighbors and friends alike, often mowing yards or assisting anyone in need. He was a member of the Moose Lodge and attended Love Memorial Baptist Church.
Donald was a passionate NASCAR fan and a devoted admirer of the late Dale Earnhardt. He also greatly enjoyed the music of George Jones and attended several of his concerts throughout the years. One of his greatest joys were spending time with his children and grandchildren, especially gathered around the family pond fishing and caring for the property he took such pride in maintaining. He also enjoyed riding his golf cart throughout the neighborhood visiting with friends and neighbors. Above all else, Donald treasured his family and the many memories they created together.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his grandchildren, Braylen Newsome and Joshua Newsome, Jr.
He is survived by his loving wife, Nancy Joann Mozingo; his daughter, Sharon Mozingo Edwards. his sons, Richard Mozingo, Donald “Ray” Mozingo and wife, Tina, Jeffrey Mozingo and wife, Christine, Jonathan Newsome, Joseph Newsome, and Joshua Newsome. Also surviving are his cherished grandchildren, Madison Combs and husband Colby, Justin Hoffman, Jessica Williams and husband, Deonte, Tyler Hardison, Tiffany Mozingo, Christopher Mozingo, Cayden Mozingo, Hannah Newsome, Devin Newsome, Tytianna Newsome, Liliana Newsome, Kaleb Newsome; along with his great-grandchildren, Amelia Hoffman, Adalynn Hoffman, Clyne Combs, Ace Combs, Chase Hardison, Braxton Hardison, and Wesson Touchet
A service to celebrate his life will be held Wednesday, May 27, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of Shumate-Faulk Funeral Home with Reverend Richard Toler officiating. Burial will follow in Wayne Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 12:45 p.m. until 1:45 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers the family suggest memorial donations be directed to SMOC “Cure for the Colors”
