May 16, 2026, 72, Dudley – Joyce Anne Pigford Mitchell, 72, passed away unexpectedly at her home in Dudley on Saturday, May 16. She is survived by a daughter; Teneisha Mitchell of Mount Olive; her two sons, Leroy Mitchell and his girlfriend, Talasha of Dudley, and Alex Mitchell also of Dudley; two special sons, Christopher McKenny and Doug Whitfield; her two sisters, Betty Pigford of Dunn, and Kimberly P. Parker and husband Steve of Goldsboro; and two brothers, Julis Pigford and his wife Rose of Dudley, and James Pigford and his wife Maye of Fayetteville.
Joyce Anne is also survived by five grandchildren; Jamie Alexander, Jessica Lewis, Andrea Tanner, TaNya’ Allen, and Alexander Allen; and seven great-grandchildren. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Joyce Anne was preceded in death by her parents; Alex Julius Pigford and Edna Pearl Pigford. Joyce Anne had been employed with KFC in Mount Olive where she enjoyed her work there preparing food for the community.
A Graveside service will be held on Saturday, May 23, at eleven o’clock in the morning in the Carver Cemetery, Mount Olive. The family will receive friends at the cemetery immediately following the service, and at other times at the home of her son, Leroy in Dudley.
