May 19, 2026, 101, Baltimore, MD – Florence Britt Germano, 101, of Grantham, North Carolina and Baltimore, Maryland, passed away peacefully in her sleep on May 19, 2026 in New Port Ritchie, Florida. Florence Estelle Britt was born to Mosco and Frances Britt on January 10, 1925. Her beloved late siblings were Vera, Ralph, TK, Katy Frances, and Wendell (Doc). Late in-laws, beloved all, were Marvin, Dora Mae, Doris, Arthur, and Clara Lou. A talented basketball player, she attended the Grantham School. She was a perfect housewife for many years, and then tailored Ralph Lauren menswear, repaired furniture, and for many years, served as a perfect hostess for the restaurant at J.C. Penney. She was especially proud when she was named Maryland State Queen for TOPS (“Take Off Pounds Sensibly”) and accepted her crown in Kansas City, Missouri. Also a world traveler, she visited London, England, Dubai, United Arab Emirates, and Doha, Qatar. Her biggest love however, was cooking for as many people as possible 24/7.
Florence, mom of the late Vivian Denning Baker Towson (who also attended Grantham School) and Barbara Denning Gattus, is survived by son Eddie Denning and wife, Emily, grandson James Baker and wife Anne, granddaughter Kimberly Sage, great granddaughter, Shelby Baker and significant other Evan Deck, great grandson Dylan Baker and wife Meredith, great granddaughter Stephanie Sage Turner and husband Rob with great great grandsons, August and Marshall, and great grandsons John and Steven Sage.
The family will visit with friends at Shumate-Faulk Funeral Home on Friday, May 29, 2026, 6-8 PM. Funeral Services, officiated by Reverend Frank Purvis with piano accompaniment by Betty Britt, will be held Saturday, May 30, 11:00 AM, at Eureka Christian Church, 2036 Dobbersville Road, Mount Olive, NC, 28365. Burial will follow at Wayne Memorial Park.
