April 27, 2026, 26, Fremont – George Cecil Silvey III passed away at his home on Monday, April 27, 2026. This is the home he grew up in, where he wanted to live and where he was comfortable. Born in Germany on October 5, 1999, George quickly became the joy of the Fry household.
He is now with his mother, Michelle Fry “Fry Baby” Silvey; his grandmother, Susan Daniels Fry; his grandfather, John Frederick Fry; and his dog, Pablo. They were always a circle of love, dedication, and commitment with each other.
George and his mom, Michelle, were both on the Carolina Fury power wheelchair hockey team and traveled around NC competing, and even traveled to Minnesota for a final tournament one summer. He was the youngest and one of the fastest. They won the 2013 championship, came in 3rd place twice, and came in 8th place twice. Another activity they enjoyed was swimming at the YMCA in Goldsboro. George was also a recipient of the Make-A-Wish Foundation and got to go to Walt Disney World in Florida.
George was a Cub Scout with Pack 12 in Fremont, where he found great success in the scouting adventures suited to his abilities. He especially excelled at selling Trail’s End popcorn, earning top honors one year and the unforgettable privilege of throwing a pie in the Cubmaster’s face. George also always showed up with a sharp-looking Pinewood Derby car, crafted with the help of his Grandfather John, and his proud smile after each race said it all.
George had a vast imagination, an incredible sense of humor, and a variety of interests. He was an excellent gamer, and often played with his cousins and the close friends he developed through the gaming community. He played with his best friend Sean daily for 10 years, since he was 16 years old.
Gaming was a special, immersive activity, allowing him to explore worlds and stories alongside the people he loved. One of his cousins said: “George spent time exploring beautiful landscapes, hours driving through cities, and soaring through skies in planes. He told me that he was able to run freely and he loved that feeling. I equated that to how most of us feel when we get to experience flying in these games. Well, these games gave George legs, and let him see the world.”
You could always tell it was George through the game. His personality, mannerisms, and character were always shining through the screen. He enjoyed personalizing his appearance and persona in thoughtful, creative, and clever ways. We think he got that from his mother, Michelle, and his grandfather, John, who were both excellent dressers. This creativity was also expressed in his passion for writing and drawing.
His mother, who was the sunshine of his life and so much fun, passed away when he was 16. He and his grandmother, Susan, never got over that loss. When his grandmother passed away, Bobbie Whitfield, his caretaker, became like a mother to him. She was with George for 17 years. There are not enough words to express the love in our hearts for her care for George.
George will be missed by his great uncle David (Elaine), his great uncle Richard (Glenda), his great aunt Angela (Kennon), his great uncle Josh (Sarah), and all his cousins: Jason (Jenn), Matthew, Beth (Elliott), Stephen, Charity (Keith), Christopher, Timothy, Kensey (Daniel), Parker, Eli, Emma, Karis, Asa, and Lucy — and his caretaker, or “George’s Most Amazing Assistant,” Bobbie.
We send him off with Love.
