Timothy “Ray” Carmon was born on May 7, 1968, at Lenoir Memorial Hospital in Kinston, North Carolina. He peacefully departed this earthly life on May 4, 2026 at Nash Healthcare Systems in Rocky Mount, North Carolina. He was preceded in death by his beloved daughter, Kalandra Carmon-Dudley of North Carolina.
At the tender age of four, while attending daycare, one of the neighbors employed there recognized Timothy’s extraordinary gift for music. From that moment forward, “Ray” began cultivating and developing the musical talent that God had placed within him.
His musical journey began at Simro Free Will Baptist Church in La Grange, North Carolina, where he began playing the piano and later united with the La Grange Community Junior Choir. Throughout the years, Timothy faithfully shared his God-given gift of music with many churches and congregations across Eastern North Carolina. He ministered through music at Math & Esther, Herring Grove, Smith Chapel, Best Chapel, Salem Chapel, St. Luke, Taylors Chapel, and St. Mary Free Will Baptist Churches. Additional churches he served included Evangelical Fellowship Center, Union District #5, Holy Ghost Cathedral, and Union Wesley AME Zion Church.
Since 2015, Timothy faithfully served as a musician at Shady Grove Free Will Baptist Church in Snow Hill, North Carolina. On September 19, 2021, he officially joined the church as a devoted and active member. He faithfully served under the leadership of Pastor Jerome Newton and later Pastor Anthony Mitchell. Timothy loved serving God through music and remained dedicated to uplifting and blessing others through his ministry.
He also found comfort and joy in fellowshipping with his mother, Minister Carolyn McCoy, and Angela Williams during Sunday worship services at Restoration & Deliverance Apostolic Ministry, Inc. in Goldsboro, North Carolina, under the loving leadership of Pastors Donald and Prophetess Jennifer Williams. Although music was both his passion and ministry, Timothy was also known for his strong work ethic and dedication to serving others. He was employed for many years at Case Farms in Dudley, North Carolina, and later worked at Smith’s Restaurant in Rocky Mount, North Carolina, where he served the community with kindness and a warm smile despite life’s many challenges.
Timothy attended and graduated from North Lenoir High School in La Grange, North Carolina, with the Class of 1988.
Timothy leaves to cherish his precious memories: his loving mother, Minister Carolyn McCoy of Goldsboro, North Carolina; his father, Aaron Williams of La Grange, North Carolina; his children, Brittney Johnson, Rayquan Johnson, and Shaquetta Johnson, all of Greenville, North Carolina, and Christopher Carmon of Dudley, North Carolina; one brother, Aaron Jr. Williams of Winchester, Virginia; one sister, Angela Williams of Goldsboro, North Carolina; seven grandchildren; several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews; along with a host of other loving relatives and dear friends.
He also leaves behind cherished special friends, including Lynwood Cotton, Kimberly House and Kimberly Pully.
Timothy was a loving and compassionate soul who never met a stranger. To know him was truly to love him. His warm smile could brighten any room he entered, and his presence brought comfort and joy to those around him. Timothy had a deep passion for God and boldly shared his faith with others, often speaking about the goodness of the Lord with tears flowing from his eyes. His life and testimony touched many hearts, and his memory will forever remain with all who knew and loved him. Timothy will be tremendously missed by his family, friends, and all whose lives he impacted.
Timothy, take your rest —
“Well done, thou good and faithful servant.”
Matthew 25:23 (KJV)
