GOLDSBORO, N.C. – Wayne Community College English Instructor Deniz Tuck has earned national recognition for her dedication to student success and excellence in teaching.
Tuck was named the recipient of the 2026 National Institute for Staff and Organizational Development (NISOD) Excellence Award, an honor recognizing outstanding faculty, staff, and administrators at community and technical colleges across the country.
NISOD member colleges select award nominees using their own criteria. Wayne Community College submitted Tuck as its nominee after she received the college’s 2025 George E. Wilson Excellence in Teaching Award.
As part of the recognition, Tuck will receive a medallion, a certificate, and be acknowledged in NISOD’s annual awards booklet.
Tuck has served as a full-time faculty member at Wayne Community College since 2014 and has earned praise from colleagues for her commitment to students and instructional excellence.
WCC Language and Communication Department Chair Allyson Daly described Tuck as a respected leader and educator within the college community.
“Deniz is a voice of informed integrity, and her voice is respected and sought out by everyone,” Daly said. “She continues to constantly reflect and refine her own practice to serve all our students.”
The NISOD Excellence Awards spotlight individuals who make significant contributions to higher education and student achievement at community and technical colleges nationwide.
