MOUNT OLIVE, N.C. — Three Wayne County students attending University of Mount Olive were recognized Monday for academic achievement, leadership, and excellence in their respective fields during the university’s annual awards ceremony.
Mauricio Pantoja Douglas of Pikeville received the Accounting Student of the Year award. The honor is presented to an outstanding accounting senior with at least 92 semester hours completed, a GPA of 3.0 or higher, and demonstrated leadership qualities, community involvement, and extracurricular interests. Douglas is majoring in Business Administration and Accounting and is a senior.
Alexis Lewis of Goldsboro earned the Nursing Student Leadership Award. The recognition is awarded to a Bachelor of Science in Nursing student who demonstrates leadership, professionalism, integrity, and dedication to the nursing profession while inspiring fellow students and contributing to the future of healthcare. Lewis is a senior in the university’s pre-licensure nursing program.
Alexis Rector of Mount Olive was named Music Student of the Year. The award recognizes a senior music major who exemplifies discipline, academic excellence, professional service, and exceptional musical talent. Rector, a Music and Voice major, met the award’s requirement of maintaining at least a 3.2 GPA while demonstrating outstanding musical ability and commitment to the program.
The awards ceremony highlighted the accomplishments of students across multiple academic disciplines and celebrated their contributions both inside and outside the classroom.
