GOLDSBORO, NC – Wayne Community College, in partnership with local first responder agencies, will host a special ceremony later this month to honor the lives and sacrifices of those who died in the line of duty.
The event, titled “Honoring Our Fallen Heroes,” will pay tribute to Wayne County first responders—including law enforcement officers, firefighters, and EMS personnel—who made the ultimate sacrifice while serving their communities.
The ceremony is scheduled for Monday, May 18, at 6 p.m. and will be held inside Moffatt Auditorium, located in the Wayne Learning Center on WCC’s campus. The building is recognized as the main facility on campus, marked by flagpoles at its entrance.
Organizers say the event is intended to bring the community together in remembrance and gratitude, offering a moment to reflect on the courage and dedication of local heroes.
The ceremony is free and open to the public, and community members are encouraged to attend.
Wayne Community College also noted its commitment to accessibility, encouraging individuals with disabilities to participate. Anyone needing accommodations or with questions about access is asked to contact the college’s Accessibility Counselor at 919-739-6729 in advance of the event.
