GOLDSBORO, N.C. — United Way of Wayne County is once again partnering with the National Association of Letter Carriers for this year’s “Stamp Out Hunger” Food Drive, set for Saturday, May 9.
Recognized as one of the largest food drives in the nation, the annual effort collects thousands of pounds of non-perishable food to support local food pantries and families in need across Wayne County.
As part of the initiative, organizers are calling on community members to step up and volunteer. Helpers are needed to sort and move donated food items throughout the day on May 9.
“This is a hands-on role,” organizers noted, adding that volunteers should be comfortable with standing, bending, and lifting while assisting with the collection process.
The partnership continues to play a vital role in addressing food insecurity locally, with donations helping stock shelves at area pantries during times of increased need.
Community members interested in volunteering are encouraged to sign up and be part of an effort that directly supports neighbors across Wayne County.
