April 25, 2026, 93, Rosewood – Mattie Eleanor Price Davis, age 93, of the Rosewood community, passed away peacefully on Saturday, April 25, 2026, with her loving family by her side.
Ms. Davis was born in Duplin County to the late Carl Otis Price and Gladys Brock Price. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Davis; and her siblings, Jean Wood, Edward Price, Raymond Price, and McDonald “Mac” Price.
A devoted member of Freedom Baptist Church, Mrs. Davis faithfully served for many years as a nursery worker and Sunday school teacher. She was widely known for her exceptional cooking skills and found great joy in preparing meals for those she loved. She also enjoyed gardening, tending to her flowers, and preserving vegetables from her harvest. Among her many talents, she was known in her family as the fastest pea sheller in the family, and proudly won an apple peeling contest at her church—just one example of her spirited and joyful nature.
She is survived by her children, Danny Ray Davis and wife, Snow; Robert “Bobby” David Davis; Connie Davis Millard and husband, Mike; and Donna Rose and husband, Mike; her sisters, Glenn Alphin and Louise Lane; her grandchildren, Danny Ray Davis Jr., Casey Floars, Anne Marie Davis, Justin Davis, Katie Millard, Abby Kennedy, and Stevee Martin; and 13 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday, April 29, 2026, in the chapel of Shumate-Faulk Funeral Home in Goldsboro, with the Reverend Ray Deck officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Maplewood Cemetery in Mount Olive.

Ms. Davis will be remembered as a loving mother, grandmother, and friend, whose life was rooted in faith, family, and simple joys. Her warm spirit, servant’s heart, and the love she shared through her cooking and care for others will be cherished and remembered always.
