April 18, 2026, 78, Mount Olive – William Ralph Goodson, 78, passed away peacefully at his home late Saturday evening, surrounded by his loving family.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years; Hattie Sanderson Goodson; his daughters, Sandra Davis and her husband, Keith of Mount Olive, and Sue Jackson; and his son, Bryant Goodson of Faison; grandchildren, Carrie Goodson, Erica Horst and husband Christopher, Heather Lowerly and husband Gary, Tiffany Locklier and husband Gran, and Jr. Vest and his wife Amanda; and eleven great-grandchildren.
Ralph was preceded in death by his parents; William Paul Goodson and Lina Belle Brock Goodson; a sister, Eloise G. Hall; a a son, Paul Goodson; and two infant sisters. Born and raised in Lenoir County, Ralph married and settled in the Suttontown community where he and Hattie raised their family.
Ralph had been a truck driver with Mount Olive Pickle Company, and loved his family dearly. He loved spending time fishing, watching football and the races. Perhaps his favorite of all were his beloved dogs who were like family.
Funeral services to honor Mr. Goodson’s life will take place on Wednesday afternoon, April 22, in the chapel of Tyndall Funeral Home at 2 o’clock in the afternoon. The family will receive friends during the hour prior to the service, beginning at 1 o’clock, and at other times at his home on Suttontown Road. Burial will follow the service in the family cemetery.
