April 16, 2026, 8E2, Goldsboro – Daniel Cogdell, 82, departed this earthly life on Thursday, April 16, 2026, to be reunited with his loving wife, Dorothy Cogdell, who passed away on February 22, 2026.
Funeral service will be held Thursday, April 23, 2026 at 1:00 p.m. in the chapel of Howell Funeral Home & Crematory in Goldsboro. Entombment will follow at Wayne Memorial Park in Dudley. Visitation will be held prior to the service from 12:00 p.m. until 12:45 p.m. at the funeral home.
Mr. Cogdell was born in Wayne County on September 10, 1943 to the late Cleo and Lula Mae Williams Cogdell. He was a member White Oak Newton Grove Disciples Church and retired from the Wayne County Sheriffs Department.
Cherishing his memories include his son, Demetrius Cogdell; daughter-in-law, Crystal of Dudley; one brother, Curtis Cogdell of Goldsboro; a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents and his wife, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Deborah Cogdell; two brothers, Charles Cogdell and Alexandria Cogdell and his sister, Linda Mae Davis.
