RALEIGH, NC — A Beulaville man is celebrating a life-changing win after scratching off a $30 lottery ticket worth $100,000.
Loyd Hall of Beulaville said he couldn’t wait to share the news with his family after realizing he had won the top prize on a $100,000 Cash Payday ticket.
“I told my son and he thought I was joking,” Hall laughed. “My daughter is the only one who believed me.”
Hall purchased his lucky ticket from J&N Grocery in Richlands. He said the moment didn’t fully sink in at first.
“I had to look at it a couple times just to make sure,” Hall recalled.
Hall traveled to lottery headquarters Wednesday to claim his prize. After required state and federal tax withholdings, he took home $72,018.
“I’m living the dream,” Hall said.
Hall plans to use his winnings to pay bills and complete projects around his home.
The win comes as part of the North Carolina Education Lottery, which raises money for education programs across the state.
