WAYNE COUNTY, N.C. — Wayne County Public Schools (WCPS) will be closed for students and staff on Tuesday, February 3, due to icy conditions and continued below-freezing temperatures overnight that are impacting roadways and school campuses.
School officials said the decision was made out of an abundance of caution to ensure the safety of students, staff, and families as hazardous conditions persist across the county.
WCPS administrators will continue to closely monitor local weather forecasts and remain in close communication with Wayne County Emergency Management officials throughout the weather event. Updates regarding school operations will be shared as conditions change.
Families are encouraged to stay informed by monitoring official WCPS communication channels for the latest information.
