GOLDSBORO, N.C. — Do you know someone who goes above and beyond to make Wayne County a better place to live? The United Way of Wayne County is now accepting nominations for the 2027 Governor’s Volunteer Service Award, recognizing individuals, businesses, and groups whose dedication to serving others makes a lasting impact on the community.
Established by the Office of the Governor in 1979, the annual Governor’s Volunteer Service Award honors North Carolinians who demonstrate exceptional compassion, commitment, and dedication through volunteer service.
Wayne County may recognize up to 10 individuals or groups for their outstanding contributions to the community.
Additionally, one local recipient may be nominated for the prestigious Governor’s Medallion Award for Volunteer Service, which recognizes approximately 20 to 25 of North Carolina’s most outstanding volunteers each year.
A local review committee will evaluate nominations and recommend Wayne County’s award recipients.
