December 9, 2025, 80, Nags Head — Betty Grandy Stone, 80, of Nags Head, North Carolina, passed away on Tuesday, December 9th, 2025.
Betty is survived by her daughter, Jacquelyn Dawn Fix and family; her son Bryan Allen Coppersmith and family.
Betty was preceded in death by her parents Bryan and Mamie Grandy, her brother Paul Grandy, Melvin Grandy, her sister Arlene Grandy and her husband Raymond Stone.
Betty was loved by many and was a people person her entire life. Often referred to as “the Biscuit Lady” she loved serving and feeding people for many years out of Stop Quik in Nags Head North Carolina. She was often seen working her charm from behind the counter and known for big hugs that you could not forget.
Betty was joined at her residence in Nags Head by her grandson, Austin and wife, Lyndsey. She was able to share her love for plants and continue serving food for them. During this time she was known to bake cakes and other sweets to deliver across the Outer Banks, she cherished being able to spread love through food.
In her later years she moved in with her daughter, Dawn, her husband Leigh, and grandson Christopher to start a two year battle with cancer. She put on a hard fight and pressed through many difficult treatment periods but always maintained her charm and her sense of humor. Throughout her battle with cancer she never missed a chance to return to the store so all the people she loved could receive one more hug. She loved and was loved by so many people and she will be deeply missed.
A memorial will be held at the Outer Banks Presbyterian Church in Kill Devil Hills on Saturday, December 20th at 10:00 AM. The address is 907 S Croatan Hwy, Kill Devil Hills, NC. The family welcomes all who knew and loved Betty to come and cherish her memory.
