December 2, 2025, 2 days, Goldboro — Barret Wylder Cotten, beloved and beautiful baby boy of Christopher and Harlie Cotten, was born on December 2, 2025, and unexpectedly passed away on December 4, 2025. Though his time on Earth was brief, Barret’s life was filled entirely with love—pure, unconditional, and immeasurable.

In just two days, he touched more hearts than many do in a lifetime. His parents cherished every moment with him: the softness of his tiny hands, the quiet strength of his presence, and the profound joy he brought simply by existing. Barret reminded his family that love is not measured in time, but in the depth of its impact.

Barret was preceded in death by his grandfather, Jason Sawyer and great-grandfathers, James R. Cotten and Ronald Holland.

He is held forever in the hearts of his parents, Christopher and Harlie Cotten; maternal grandmother Rebecca Kidd; paternal grandparents, Richard and Deborah Cotten; maternal great-grandparents, Donna Lawrenson and Clark Kidd Jr.; paternal great-grandparents, Peggy Cotten, Dennis and Eileen Lee; aunts and uncles, James Cotten, Briana Gaglione and family, Jestis Sawyer, Jaedah Sawyer, Izabella Kidd, Anthony Woodhull and family, and Steven Woodhull; and extended family including several cousins, who will carry his memory with tenderness and devotion. Barret’s life, though short, was meaningful. He leaves behind a legacy of hope, connection, and a reminder to cherish each precious moment we are given.

A service to celebrate this cherished life will take place Wednesday, December 10, 2025, at 10 AM at Seymour Funeral Home Chapel, Goldsboro, with Pastor Andy Stovall officiating. Burial will follow at the family home in Benson, NC. In honor of Barret, his family asks that others offer kindness in their daily lives, hold their loved ones close, and remember all children who leave this world too soon.
