MOUNT OLIVE — A cold December breeze couldn’t stop the spirit of the season Saturday morning as families bundled in heavy coats and blankets lined Center Street for the town’s annual Christmas Parade.
Spectators young and old gathered early to secure the best view, waving to floats, fire trucks, school groups, and local performers spreading holiday cheer throughout downtown. Children smiled while collecting candy tossed from passing parade entries, while adults enjoyed the festive music and decorated vehicles rolling by in full Christmas flair.
This year’s grand marshal was recently retired Mount Olive Fire Chief Greg Wiggins, honored for his years of dedicated service to the community. Wiggins led the procession from the front of the lineup, greeted by cheers and applause as he made his way down the parade route.
The parade marks one of Mount Olive’s most cherished holiday traditions, bringing the community together to kick off the season in joyful fashion. Despite the brisk temperatures, the turnout proved that the Christmas spirit burns bright in Mount Olive.
