GOLDSBORO, N.C. — The countdown is on! In less than a week, the City of Goldsboro will officially Light Up Downtown as the community gathers to celebrate the start of the Christmas season.
The beloved annual event, Downtown Lights Up!, returns to Center Street on Tuesday, November 25, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m., bringing an evening of holiday magic for families across Wayne County.
Center Street will transform into a festive wonderland filled with holiday lights, live entertainment, trolley rides, local vendors, hot cocoa, and photos with Santa. Children are also encouraged to bring their Letters to Santa and drop them off during the celebration.
The event draws thousands each year and has become a cherished tradition marking the beginning of the holiday season.
City officials are encouraging residents to be part of the excitement — not just by attending, but by volunteering. Opportunities are available to help with activities, greet families, and support event operations.
Those interested can sign up to volunteer.
“Downtown Lights Up is one of Goldsboro’s favorite holiday traditions,” organizers said. “It’s a night where the entire community comes together to celebrate, connect, and welcome the season.”
The main lighting ceremony will take place on Center Street between 5 p.m. and 7 p.m.
