WCC’s Dawson Wins District Administrator Award

GOLDSBORO, N.C. – Wayne Community College Vice President of Workforce Continuing Education Services and Community Engagement Renita Dawson has been honored with the Administrator of the Year award from the North Carolina Association of Educational Office Professionals (AEOP) District 12.

Earlier this year, Dawson was named Administrator of the Year by WCC’s chapter of the AEOP. She was honored for recognizing the essential role of educational office professionals and ensuring they are valued, supported, and included in the organization. Her colleagues described her as professional, compassionate, and someone who exemplifies leadership.

Dawson said she is deeply humbled to receive the district award. “Being recognized by those you work alongside every day is incredibly meaningful,” she said. “As a leader who takes this responsibility seriously, I am grateful for the opportunity to represent not only our college but also our district in such a special way.”

Dawson will now be considered for the same award at the state level. The winner will be announced at the NCAEOP annual conference held in March of 2026.

The NCAEOP District 12 consists of Wayne, Greene, Lenoir, Jones, Craven, Onslow, Pamlico, and Carteret counties.

Dawson joined WCCAEOP in 2014. She also received the Administrator of the Year award from WCC in 2020 and from the NCAEOP District 12 in 2021.

The NCAEOP is a support organization for educational office personnel and administrators. It provides professional development opportunities, insurance, and scholarships to members as well as a legislative platform to promote input into all educational matters in the state.
